Drawing the portrait in charcoal

Course Description

This three day course will focus on how to build a portrait from initial measurements through to a finished head using charcoal and chalk on toned paper. We will concentrate on construction of the head, value definition, editing and emphasis. Students will do a series of portraits to practice the method of drawing using sight size in an efficient and economical way. The course will combine both demonstrations and one to one tutoring. All materials will be supplied for this workshop. Students can bring additional materials should they wish. Please bring a packed lunch.
