Teresa Oaxaca will be returning this September for another workshop in portraiture.  This time we will be drawing the portrait and using decorative, colourful elements to enhance.  The course will combine lengthy demonstrations and discussions alongside one to one critiques.

We will be using Rives BFK paper, charcoal, white chalk, ink and watercolor to create charcoal portraits with colored backgrounds.  The drawing of the portrait will be the most time consuming, with the background being done in a more spontaneous way that brings all the elements of the composition together and draws out positive aspects in the face.  We will be dealing with anatomy, light and dark shapes, proportion, lifework, rendering and design.  All the while we will be working from life and using proportional measurement.

Teresa combines the serious business of creating artwork with the joy that it inspires.  Her natural flare for creativity is infectious and will leave you with a lasting imprint to take away with you and use in your own practise.

A list of materials will be issued on completion of payment.  They will also be available to buy from the shop.
